Guy Kenworthy who’s poker nickname is “pokerbear” managed to play a blinding game in the $3000 limit qualifier for the WSOP and came a very credible 12th place.

He won over $10,000 for his troubles which is, a nice little downpayment on his mortgage, a decent second hand family car OR the buy in for the WSOP main event!

Pokerbear currently intends to go for broke and go for the WSOP title next year.

This years WSOP at the Amazon ballroom at the Rio and Ceasars Palace was a fantastic success. The atmosphere inside the Rio was palpable as players desperately scrambled to register for the biggest poker tournament the world had ever seen. Last year’s WSOP had 5619 entrants, and people had been speculating about the field size this year. It was announced that there were a remarkable 8773 players this year, and that first prize would be $12 million!!!

This is an absurd number of players, and shows the explosive growth that poker is still enjoying. God only knows how many players will turn up for next year’s event, it looks like Harrah’s and the Rio had better start organising it now.
