Law school Don fights to decriminalise poker in the US
Poker News November 2nd, 2007A Harvard Law School professor has decided to campaign to make poker an honest past time in America and worldwide.
Charles Nesson became famous after a film with Julia Roberts was made out of his real life assistance to a young woman suing chemical companies for the damage they were doing to her community. Then lately he was in the news again for defending the man who leaked Pentagon Papers.
Now Nesson wants governments to relax restrictions on on poker players and has formed the Global Poker Strategic Thinking Society with some of his students to promote poker as a fun learning tool and a game of skill and not chance.
“I’d like to (legitimize) poker as an educational instrument,” Nesson said. “It’s a great way to learn and practice the skills of seeing what things look like from another person’s point of view.”
The group is primarily interested in getting the federal government in America to decriminalise online poker, it’s good news for the pro-poker movement that they have picked up such an important ally.
