In December, William Hill will be introducing rebuys and add-ons in many of our multi-table tournaments and satellite qualifiers.

A rebuy is a tournament where you can buy more chips for a fee. In some tournaments, you may need to reach zero chips to be eligible for a rebuy. In others, you may rebuy any time your stack is below a certain chip level. Rebuy tournaments will allow a single rebuy, multiple rebuys, or unlimited rebuys. The rebuy period will take place prior to the first break in a tournament.

During the first break, players will be able to perform an add-on for more chips. An add-on allows a player to purchase even more chips for a fee, but without the same restrictions as a rebuy. Some tournaments will offer double and triple addons for double and triple the chips!

You will know if a tournament is a rebuy tournament when the name includes “rebuy”. The main lobby will display the number of rebuys and add-ons allowed in the summary area, and a full description will appear in the tournament lobby.

What is a Headhunter rebuy tournament?
When a player reaches zero chips during the rebuy period in a Headhunter rebuy tournament, they get the option to rebuy. Every time they rebuy, they are “resurrected” and a percentage of their rebuy fee goes into the prize pool, with the remaining amount going onto the player’s own head.

The real fun begins after the first break, when the rebuys and add-ons are over but the players’ head values have swollen with their rebuy funds! Knock a player out after the rebuy period to collect some real cash!

AN IRISH poker star has played his cards right to fulfill a weighty promise he made to his family three years ago.

Card shark Julian Thew, who was raised in Dublin and attended Balinteer Community College, gave up his career as a professional architect to pursue his poker dream.

He pledged to his wife Amanda and two sons — three-and-ahalfyear-old Ruben and nine-month-old Barney — that he would pay off his mortgage entirely before his 40th birthday.

And with two weeks to spare the Nottinghham-based poker prodigy has done just that with victory at the European Poker Tournament (EPT) in Baden, Austria.

The triumph earned him a cheque for £470,000. The William Hill poker sponsored star expressed his delight at making good on his promise.

He said: “It’s always nice when a plan comes together and I remembered making the promise when I was sat at the final table in Austria and just hoped it would come off. “But it was still an unbelievable feeling when I won and I was very emotional.

“I didn’t really celebrate in Austria, because the family was at home, and I had a nightmare to get back the next day because my flights out of Vienna were cancelled.
