Make a New Year resolution to improve your game with PartyPoker.com. Whether you start 2008 by aiming to boost your bankroll, change your style of play, or win a seat at an exotic live event, this is the place to be.
We’ve even organised three special New Year’s PartyRoll tournaments on January 5 - including one with a $10,000 prize pool – as an incentive to get your 2008 bankroll off to a winning start.
To enter you simply need the PartyPoints you receive while enjoying your normal real money games. The more points you earn from January 1 through 4, the bigger the tournament you can play.
Gaining points will be easier if you stick to your New Year’s Revolution poker plan. For example, you could:
Try something different by playing Omaha or 7 Card Stud
Break with your routine and experience the Hellkats or the $300K Guaranteed Sunday
Be more adventurous and play two cash tables at the same time
Focus on what you’re best at and aim to win five cash sessions in a row
Think outside the box by learning to read your opponent and mixing up your own style of play
Experience new places and qualify for a live poker event
Stick with some of these resolutions between 00.01 (ET) on January 1, 2008 and 23.59 (ET) on January 4, and you should collect enough PartyPoints to enter one of the New Year’s PartyRoll tournaments with no buy-in needed.
You can even play in more than one if you earn enough points.
Enjoy your New Year’s Revolution, and good luck at the tables.
Blackjack is now awailable at Party Poker as a single player game where you can win further cash prizes!!
The objective of Blackjack is to accumulate cards with a total value of as close to 21 as possible without going over 21. The value of a hand is the sum of the point counts of each card in the hand. The value assigned to the cards is as follows:
Cards 2 through 10 are valued as indicated.
Face cards (Jacks, Queens and Kings) are all valued at 10 points.
An Ace counts as one or 11, whichever is to the player’s advantage. It is worth 11 unless that would cause hand value to exceed 21 (bust), in which case it has a value of 1.
Soft total - a hand that contains an Ace that can be counted as 11 without the total going above 21. For example: Ace-6 is soft 17.
Hard total - a hand that contains an Ace that can be counted as only 1 because counting it as 11 would make the hand go over 21. For example: Ace-6-10 is hard 17.
If the player and the house tie, it is a push and no one wins. Ace and 10 (Blackjack) on the first two cards dealt is an automatic player win at 1.5 to 1, unless the house ties.
Game Details:
The game is available only in ‘real money’ mode.
The minimum bet in the game is $1 and the maximum bet is $200. The maximum bet applies for the initial bet of the game.
Eight decks are used and each deck has 52 cards.
The deck is shuffled after 10% of the cards in the decks are used.
The dealer draws a card on soft 17.
Three maximum splits are allowed
The number of cards dealt to the dealer or the player is limited only by choice (by clicking on ‘Stand’) or by going bust.
If the dealer has a 10, Jack, Queen or King as the up card, it is possible he has a Blackjack. In this instance, the player’s hand will lose except with another Blackjack. The dealer will check whether a Blackjack is possible and will collect the losing bet immediately if he does have a Blackjack.

Ireland’s James McManus was the big winner of PartyPoker.com’s The Grind promotion, scooping a Mini Cooper S Convertible in the prize draw and a Nintendo Wii when he came sixth at the final table of a Grindroll. If that was not enough, James was already celebrating after winning $52,000 in the famous PartyPoker.com Bad Beat Jackpot just two months before!
Dubliner James, 22, recently finished studying maths at college and intends to work in the finance industry or as a maths teacher - and he’s now got a bumper bankroll to get him going.
“It has been a good couple of months,” said James with great understatement. “I didn’t have many debts but I’ve paid off all that I did have! I intend to use some of the money to build a bankroll for online cash games. I’ve thought about the tournament circuit a bit but I would need a bigger bankroll and I’m happy where I am now.
“I opted to take $40,000 rather than the car. A Mini Cooper S Convertible would be great but I don’t really have the need for it at the moment. I’m looking forward to getting my Wii though. I also won the Bad Beat Jackpot two months ago. I had pocket queens and flopped quads, my opponent had quad nines! They got $104,000 and I got $52,000 and I won the hand! That was brilliant but to win all of this in such a short period of time is fantastic!”
James acknowledged that his maths skills can come in handy in his play but that he had just been on a very, very good run. “It has been going great recently. I normally play 2/4 or 3/6 no limit cash games and the odd tournament. I intend to stick to the same stakes for the time being and build on what I have.”
A PartyPoker.com spokesman said: “To bag a Wii, win a sports car in a draw and pocket $52,000 for flopping quad queens in just two months almost beggars belief, it is unprecedented. James is a great guy but it almost seems that someone is out there looking out for him!
“The Grind promotion featured $100,000-worth of Grindrolls and ran until September 9, 2007. To qualify for Grindrolls, players had to earn at least 25
PartyPoints per day over a three-day period by playing on the site. Once this was achieved they then qualified for the $2,000 Grindroll. The more PartyPoints a player earned in a day, the bigger Grindroll they were entered for. James managed to Grind for five days in each of the two weeks of the promotion and was automatically entered into the prize draw to win the Mini Cooper S Convertible. Other prizes won in Grindrolls included 80 Nintendo Wii’s and 120 80GB video iPods.
